Dear Readers,
As a life-long children’s books aficionado who lists reading the entire children’s and young adult sections of the Patrick Henry Library in Summer 1998 as one of her proudest achievements, I know the indelible impact books have on the heart, imagination and growing mind. As a mom, I’m excited to translate what we do on Watkins’ adult list (socio- emotional learning, wellbeing, folklore and fostering important cultural conversations) into beautiful books that open young readers’ eyes to their incredible potential.
Our imprint is very lucky to be drawing on the talent, initiative and keen eye of its creative team, Commissioning Editors Brittany Willis and Gemma Creffield, Head of Design Karen Smith and Junior Marketing Executive Hayley Moss. While we will continue to distribute our books in the UK, we are delighted to partner with Penguin Random House to distribute our books in the United States, Canada and everywhere else globally.

In Fall 2025, you’ll learn to be a magical guardian of nature in Claire Barker’s HETTIE NETTLE’S HANDBOOK FOR HEDGEWITCHES and follow a young girl’s experience of sensory overload in MAKE IT ALL GO AWAY by Helen Docherty and Taylor Barron. You’ll be introduced to the election process in a fun and innovative way in Davide Cali and Magali Clavelet’s VOTE WOLF and follow an introverted child’s journey to (reluctantly) make new friends in Marco Anderson and Erica Salcedo’s THIS BOOK IS ABOUT NOTHING.
