Melissa Valente is an English teacher, journalist, mum and children’s author. She lived in East Africa (first Kenya, then Tanzania) for 20 years and has just returned to England (specifically the Cotswolds), where she now lives with her husband and two young children (aged 6 and 10). When she lived in Africa, she also worked as a wildlife photographer and is passionate about wildlife and protecting it. She sponsors rescued baby elephants and rhinos at the Sheldrick’s Trust in Nairobi as a small nod to this, but has worked with different projects and charities over the years.
Melissa uses stories to champion children, highlight the best of humanity and explore the wonders of the natural world.
